John Hampden Hall ![]() 101 High Street, Chalgrove, Oxford OX44 7SS Situated in the High Street, directly opposite the row of four shops. This Church hall is a facility for the whole community to use and is available for hire. It is managed by a Committee on behalf of St. Mary's Church PCC, who are the managing trustees. Whilst it is a hundred years old, having celebrated its centenary in 2006, it was fully modernised and refurbished to a high standard for the Millennium. With easy access for the disabled, it offers the following facilities. Main HallMAIN HALL. The main hall will seat up to 50 people, and is equipped for seminars, family parties, sales and music practice, with an electronic piano in situ. There is a door to a landscaped garden at the rear. A hatch gives opens to the small kitchen. A door gives access to the adjacent store room. The Fire Exit goes out to the side of the building. White boards in Main HallThe Main Hall can be hired at £15.00 per hour or for regular non-commercial use at £7.50 per hour. ![]() TREATMENT ROOM.A private room is equipped for medical clinics, with a reclining chair and wash hand basin. The treatment room can be hired at £7.00 per hour. ![]() COMPUTER ROOM. The computer room is fitted with a suite of computers aimed primarily at training, with access to the internet. The room is used regularly by the Chalgrove Computer Club on Monday and Thursday mornings, but is available for hire at other times in agreement with the Club. ![]() ![]() RECEPTION AREA. The reception area will seat up to 15 people, and is ideal for committee meetings, and other small scale events, eg book sales. Coffee tables and chairs are available, and access to the kitchen and toilets is via a corridor. The reception area may be hired for fund-raising events at £20.00 per session, and for other uses at £10.00 per session. ![]() KITCHEN. The kitchen is small and has no oven or refrigerator. There is a hot water dispenser, for use in making tea and coffee. Cups and saucers are provided. The kitchen can be used for serving pre-prepared food. A hatch way gives access to the main hall. ![]() TOILET FACILITIES. There are male and female toilets and a toilet for the disabled. The female toilet also contains baby changing facilities. The Hall is used regularly by the following organisations: Chunky Monkeys and Footmarks use the Hall on Tuesdays, and Playdays on Wednesday mornings. Two computer sessions coupled with Take a Break coffee mornings take place on Monday and Thursday mornings. Scrabble on Wednesday afternoons is very popular. The evenings are used by History Group, Flower Club, Slimming World and Choir (in the winter months). Age Concern use us for committee meetings, and the Police use the Hall on a fairly regular basis. The Hall is used by groups for fundraising sessions and is also a good venue for children’s parties.
