The Concert given by The OCCAM Quartet Plus One

on the afternoon of Sunday 27th February was very well attended and much enjoyed. First the Quartet, Davin Horvat (violin), Maxence Bretel (violin), Ana Dunne Sequi (viola) and Bertille Mas (cello), performed Beethoven’s Quartet in C minor opus 18 n.4, which was composed in 1800 and dedicated to Prince Joseph Franz von Lobkowitz, a native of Bohemia, who was a great patron of the arts in Vienna.

In the interval we were treated to tea and cakes, after which the Quartet were joined by clarinetist Helen Smith for a performance of Mozart’s “Stadler” Clarinet Quintet in A major K.581, which was composed in Vienna in 1789.

It was a delight to be able to see and hear these talented musicians performing these two works in the excellent acoustics of St Mary’s church, and our thanks go to the Friends for arranging this concert, to Jeanette and her team for the refreshments but especially to the musicians. A total of £535 was raised of which £321 was shared with the musicians and £214 went to the Friends.

The photo shows the Quartet with Helen Smith in the centre.
