Earlier today, Chalgrove Parish Council made the following announcement:

“It is with great sadness that we join our community in this period of national mourning following the announcement of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who died yesterday.  Chalgrove Parish Council would like to express their sincerest condolences and sympathies to all members of The Royal Family and everybody touched by the loss of our Sovereign.  Her Majesty ruled for longer than any other Monarch in British history and served as our Head of State with great dignity, composure and compassion. Throughout her Reign, she was a strong and reassuring figurehead for the UK and the Commonwealth during enormous social change and demonstrated unwavering support to many through challenging times.  She was truly loved, valued and respected by people across the world and her presence will be greatly missed by the people of Chalgrove.  It is with great pride that Chalgrove Parish Council have been able to serve our community during her Reign.

A Book of Condolence has been opened at St Mary’s Church and will be accessible from Monday to Saturday, 9am-3pm, and then again 7.30pm-9pm for those who wish to pay their respects. We thank the church stewards, who have volunteered their time, to enable this to happen.”

We at St Mary’s join with our community and our Parish Council in paying tribute to the devotion and fortitude, the perseverance and faith of our Sovereign Lady. We join our prayers with innumerable others nationwide and across the Commonwealth in giving thanks to Almighty God for his grace and mercy to us throughout her long reign. As she rests eternally in the arms of God, we continue to hold her and the whole royal family in prayer, through our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Let us pray especially for her successor, King Charles III.
During the period of official mourning, St Mary’s Church is open Monday to Saturday, 9am-3pm, and again at 7.30pm-9pm, for those wishing to pay their respects. Public prayers, to which all are invited, are made at 9am, 2.50pm, and 8.50pm.
God save the King!
