St Mary’s, Easter Garden

On Good Friday Fr Michael wrote

Here are a few photos showing the progress on the Church Easter Garden, which is the focus of our public worship this Easter. It is a real community effort. Several classes at the school have been busy decorating stones, as have many members of the village community. (Thank you!!)The photos were taken over a few hours on Good Friday morning. Volunteers came in shifts, so as to make sure that everyone was safe and Covid compliant. Thanks to Andrew and Peter, who put up the cross first thing this morning. Thanks to Kirsty who added the tomb, the gravel, and the purple robe. Thanks to Claire and the flower team for the crown of thorns. And thanks to Heather and Wendy, who are laying out the painted stones. On Good Friday, the garden always looks a little bare, as the day is meant to be solemn.

Tomorrow, Saturday, the flowers team are coming to decorate the Easter Garden with foliage and flowers in preparation for Sunday’s service at 9.30am.Thank you to everyone who has contributed.

God bless.

Fr Michael
